Mehrsprachigkeit in Motorradmagazinen am Beispiel von MOTORRAD und Allt om MC
Abstract
This article deals with the incidence of multilingualism in the magazines MOTORRAD and Allt om MC and the question of which languages occur. It further examines whether translations or explanations of the foreign terms are given. The analysis shows that in both magazines several languages occur in addition to the German or Swedish of the magazine and that English features most prominently. The second most frequent foreign language found is Italian. Translations and explanations appear in both magazines, but it appears that MOTORRAD more frequently provides translations whereas Allt om MC inclines more to giving explanations. All in all the samples found are highly dependent on their respective contexts.
