Ennustavan mallin luomiseen käytettiin logistista regressioanalyysia, jonka perusteella muutamien muuttujien voitiin havaita ennustavan intervention tuloksellisuutta. Merkityksellisenä tuloksena voidaan pitää sitä, että ryhmän toiminnassa mukana oltu aika lisää todennäköisyyttä hyötyä hoidosta. Yllättävää sen sijaan on, että tietyt haasteina pidetyt asiat näyttäytyivät hoidon tuloksellisuutta edistävinä tekijöinä. Näihin tuloksiin tulee kuitenkin suhtautua varauksella ja pääasiallisena johtopäätöksenä voidaankin pitää sitä, että mitkään tutkitut tekijät eivät näytä olevan ainakaan esteinä menestyksekkäälle hoitotulokselle. Koska mitkään väkivallan tekijän taustaan liittyvät seikat eivät nouse keskeisiksi hoidosta hyötymisen kannalta, jatkossa olisi tarve tutkia sen sijaan sitä, mitkä interventioprosessiin liittyvät asiat voisivat olla olennaisia.fi
Group interventions in batterer treatment within intimate partner violence are relatively common but the research is still incoherent especially regarding factors that are associated with the outcome of treatment. The aim of the present study was to examine whether intervention- or batterer-related factors or the nature of violence predict benefitting from the group intervention. The outcome of the treatment was measured by using the information collected from the spouses of the batterers; ACBI-questionnaires and interviews were used to examine the change in violence and in the quality of relationship. The examinees consisted of 44 batterers who had taken part in Vaihtoehto väkivallalle - group intervention between 2001-2018. Logistic regression was used to identify possible predictors for benefitting from the intervention. Some of the existing variables predicted the positive outcome. The relevant result is the fact that the more time the batterer had been involved in the group meetings, the more likely a person is to benefit from treatment. Some factors which usually are seen as challenges, surprisingly appeared to contribute to treatment success. These results should be viewed with caution and the main conclusion that can be drawn is the fact that none of the examined factors seem to be barriers to a successful outcome. Since no factors related to batterers’ background were crucial regarding the effectiveness of the intervention, more research needs to be done in order to be able to answer which factors in the intervention process can be essential instead.en
