Motive und Motivation zum Deutschlernen : Beispiel Deutsch als Fremdsprache unter Studierenden in Finnland
Abstract
The paper focuses on the student motivation for learning German in Finnish universities based on a nationwide survey. The sample includes all university students, not only those at language departments. The most important reason for taking up German was the hope for better work opportunities. The other reasons were of social nature alongside an interest for the culture of German-speaking countries. A further outcome of the study is the visible influence of changes in the national language policy on the German learners in Finland.
