We study the current of chiral charge density in a Dirac semimetal with two Dirac points in momentum space, subjected to an externally applied time dependent electric field and in the presence of a magnetic field. Based on the kinetic equation approach, we find contributions to the chiral charge current that are proportional to the second power of the electric field and to the first and second powers of the magnetic field, describing the interplay of the chiral anomaly and the drift motion of electrons moving under the action of electric and magnetic fields.

Developments in many-body theory of quantum transport and spectroscopy with non-equilibrium Green's functions and time-dependent density functional theory Uimonen, Anna-Maija (University of Jyväskylä, 2015)The problem of quantum dynamics in open systems has gained attention in recent decades and not the least due to the advances made in quantum transport in molecular systems. The main motivation behind quantum transport ...
Mace, Mark; Mueller, Niklas; Schlichting, Soeren; Sharma, Sayantan (American Physical Society, 2020)We present a first principles study of chiral plasma instabilities and the onset of chiral turbulence in QED plasmas with strong gauge matter interaction (e2Nf=64), far from equilibrium. By performing classical-statistical ...

(American Physical Society, 2019)One new pair of positive-parity chiral doublet bands have been identified in the odd-A nucleus 135Nd which together with the previously reported negative-parity chiral doublet bands constitute a third case of multiple ...
Non-linear interactions of femtosecond laser pulses with graphene : photo-oxidation, imaging and photodynamics Koivistoinen, Juha (University of Jyväskylä, 2017)This thesis presents a study focused on interactions of femtosecond laser pulses with graphene, a one atom thick carbon membrane. Graphene, which exhibits exceptional electronic and optoelectronic properties, could ...
