Effective value of the weak axial-vector coupling strength, g A , in nuclear β and ββ (double beta) decays is discussed. Both Gamow-Teller and first-forbidden β decays are included in the analyses. Quenching of g A in β and two-neutrino ββ decays is reviewed and impact of this quenching on neutrinoless ββ decays is addressed. New measurements of β spectra of first-forbidden non-unique β decays are encouraged, to learn about the mesonic enhancement of the weak axial charge in these decays.

Effective axial-vector strength within proton-neutron deformed quasiparticle random-phase approximation
Delion, D. S.; Dumitrescu, A.; Suhonen, J. (American Physical Society, 2019)We use the available experimental Gamow-Teller β− and β+/EC (electron-capture) decay rates between 0+ and 1+ ground states in neighboring even-even and odd-odd nuclei, combined with 2νββ half-lives, to analyze the influence ... -
Neutrino-nuclear responses and the effective value of weak axial coupling
Suhonen, Jouni (American Institute of Physics, 2019)On-going measurements of the neutrinoless ββ decay are accompanied by the growing interest in computing the values of the associated nuclear matrix elements. In order to extract the neutrino mass from the potentially ... -
Neutron-skin effect in direct-photon and charged-hadron production in Pb+Pb collisions at the LHC
Helenius, Ilkka; Paukkunen, Hannu; Eskola, Kari (Springer, 2017)A well-established observation in nuclear physics is that in neutron-rich spherical nuclei the distribution of neutrons extends farther than the distribution of protons. In this work, we scrutinize the influence of this ... -
Measurement of nuclear effects on ψ(2S) production in p-Pb collisions at √sNN = 8.16 TeV
ALICE Collaboration (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2020)Inclusive ψ(2S) production is measured in p-Pb collisions at the centre-ofmass energy per nucleon-nucleon pair √sNN = 8.16 TeV, using the ALICE detector at the CERN LHC. The production of ψ(2S) is studied at forward (2.03 ... -

(Institute of Physics Publishing Ltd., 2019)Angular distributions of protons, deuterons, tritons and alphaparticles emitted in the d + 9Be reaction at Elab=19.5 and 35.0 MeV have been measured. The elastic scattering channel is analysed in the framework of both the ...
