In this paper we report the public availability of transcriptome resources for the aposematic wood tiger moth
(Parasemia plantaginis). A comprehensive assembly methods, quality statistics, and annotation are provided.
This reference transcriptome may serve as a useful resource for investigating functional gene activity in aposematic
Lepidopteran species. All data is freely available at the European Nucleotide Archive (http://www.ebi.ac.
uk/ena) under study accession number: PRJEB14172.

Comparative transcriptomics of albino and warningly‐coloured caterpillars
Galarza, Juan A. (Wiley, 2021)Coloration is perhaps one of the most prominent adaptations for survival and reproduction of many taxa. Coloration is of particular importance for aposematic species, which rely on their coloring and patterning acting as ... -
Putting Parasemia in its phylogenetic place: a molecular analysis of the subtribe Arctiina (Lepidoptera)
Rönkä, Katja; Mappes, Johanna; Kaila, Lauri; Wahlberg, Niklas (Wiley-Blackwell Publishing Ltd.; Royal Entomological Society, 2016)Despite being popular among amateur and professional lepidopterologists and posing great opportunities for evolutionary research, the phylogenetic relationships of tiger moths (Erebidae: Arctiinae) are not well resolved. ... -
Population genetic structure of aposematic alpine wood tiger moths (Parasemia plantaginis)
Ashrafi, Roghaieh (2012)Alpine landscape with natural fragmentation restricts gene flow among populations and causes spatio-genetic structuring (high genetic differentiation) in species living there. Consequently, alpine habitat fragmentation and ... -
Can warning signals be honest? : wing colouration and the strength of chemical defence in the female wood tiger moth (Parasemia plataginis)
Brain, Morgan (2016)The warning displays of aposematic organisms signal to predators that they possess a secondary defence and are unprofitable. Within species variation exists in the strength of the signal and defence. As natural selection ...
