Environment and health in the Accra metropolitan area, Ghana
Abstract
Kwasi Boadi tutki väitöskirjassaan kotitalouksien ympäristöongelmia sekä niiden vaikutuksia eri sosiaaliluokkien terveyteen Accrassa, Ghanassa. Hän havaitsi, että köyhyys, puutteelliset tilat ja välineet, ympäristöterveystiedon puute sekä köyhien tarpeiden huomiotta jättäminen päätöksenteossa ovat suurimmat esteet hyvän ympäristöterveyden saavuttamiselle Accrassa. Ympäristöterveyden parantaminen vaatii vesihuollon parantamista, puhtaanapidon, jätteiden käsittelyn ja asuntojen ilmastoinnin kohentamista, huono-osaisten asuinalueiden terveyspalveluiden parantamista sekä ohjelmia, jotka lisäävät tietoisuutta ympäristöterveyteen liittyvissä asioissa.
