This study investigates how the concepts, rhetorical narrative and political language of two world organizations, the League of Nations (League) and the United Nations (UN), differ from each other. This work presents a new conceptual approach to studying world organizations. The specific nature of the two world organizations is illuminated by a very detailed comparative analysis of the founding materials of the League and the UN. Until now, world organizations have been studied using various international, legal and political theories, but none of these theories has given a very accurate and detailed picture of the concepts and vocabularies of these organizations. In addition to other findings, the analysis reveals that the League’s model was, indeed, a “league” between “nations”. It was not a model of universal or organizational world unity. The universal approach was chosen in 1943. After agreeing that it was the most important aspect in the planning for the UN, by Leo Pasvolsky and the other key founders of UN, the UN was developed as a completely new project, in which different historical ideas and practical innovations were combined in a broad unity model of a new world organization. This coincided with the move to an organizational rhetoric and with a dynamical presentation of international relations vocabulary - a vocabulary and rhetoric which are still everyday practice in contemporary world politics and diplomacy. This is also a study on the older history of concept of world organization. In that part it compares the German socialitas principle in Kant´s conception of Weltbürgerrecht to the world politics of American revolutionarism, its universal human action concepts and anti-colonialism. By this comparison I also introduce the conceptual, historical and “modern” roots of the world organizations, which are the historical precedents to the models of real world organizations.en
